LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Shedding the Skin

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

The year is ending, and it's almost time to start anew! This spell is a symbolic shedding of skin using the image of a snake. In many traditions, the snake is a symbol of transformation, ascension, and renewal. By shedding its skin, the snake reveals a more beautiful and brighter self that was waiting to shine.

For this spell, you will need a paper cutout of a snake (large enough to write on), a pen, and your chosen method of magical disposal. Create your sacred space and get focused. As you think about the culmination of the year, focus on all the things you are shedding to reveal what is yet to come. Write those down on the snake cutout. When you have filled up the snake to your liking, review what you have written and give thanks for the lessons. Bless them in your preferred way and "shed" them how you see fit—bury, burn, etc.
