Llewellyn is the oldest and largest publisher specializing in books for body, mind, and spirit. We accept submissions directly from authors (including first time authors) and from literary agents. A literary agent is not required to submit your book to Llewellyn.

Outlined below is the procedure for submitting your materials.

Original manuscripts preferred. Llewellyn does not reproduce self-published works.

Query letters, manuscripts and proposals may be sent via e-mail to: Submissions@Llewellyn.com. Word documents sent as one file in an email attachment are preferred. Please be sure to number the pages.

Printed submissions can be sent to the address below.

Your submission must include the following:

• Cover letter containing a brief description of the project.
• Total/estimated word count.
• Estimated date of manuscript completion.
• Outline and/or annotated table of contents.
• List of intended illustrations or artwork.
• Description of intended audience.
• List of similar titles and how yours is different.
• Brief summary of the author's background and credentials.
• Contact information (email, address, telephone number, website).
• Manuscript, if completed.
• Three sample chapters, if a proposal.

Submissions must be in English.
Please do not send videos.
Ideally, the final word count will be between 50,000 and 90,000 words, although a few of our books do land outside of this range.
For the art list, focus on describing illustrations and photos that will add to the text, such as illustrations that show a particular technique or a photo that shows a key person or place described in the text. Please don’t include cover mockups or a list of decorative illustrations.

Word documents or PDFs can be sent as attachments. Attachments larger than 20MB may be quarantined or delayed.

Only send copies of your material and keep the original for your records. If you wish to have any material returned, include a self-addressed envelope with appropriate postage. Otherwise, materials will not be returned. If desired, include a self-addressed, stamped blank postcard for acknowledgement of receipt of materials. Submission of unsolicited materials is done at the author's risk of loss or damage.
