Spell for Understanding

This spell will help create empathy and understanding during a disagreement between yourself and someone else. Get two different-colored candles. It's important that they melt into a puddle, so birthday, chime, or beeswax candles are best. One candle represents you, and the other represents the person in question.Rub a rose quartz over the surface of each candle, then place them side by side in small holders on wax paper, preferably so they're touching. As you light the candle representing you, state your position out loud. Do the same with the other candle, stating the opposing opinion (even if it makes you mad!). Allow the candles to safely burn and melt together. When a puddle of wax has formed, blow them out. Let the wax dry. Later, pry it up and look at how the colors have mixed together. Keep this visual amulet someplace where you can see it until the problem has gone away.

Seedling Protection Spell

Today, the ancient Romans celebrated Robigalia in honor of Robigus, the god of mildew (yes, you read that correctly). Appeasing this deity would hopefully ensure that crops would remain free of a mildew that threatened emerging seedlings. A ceremony was conducted that involved a priest lighting a fire on the altar and offerings made using wine and incense. In many parts of the world, planting is underway now. If it's too early in your area, use this spell to bless and protect any seeds you intend to plant. Visualize the seedlings or seeds being protected all the way through harvest. Chant over them:Protect these seeds, protect these plants, Keep them safe and strong. From planting until harvest time, Nothing will go wrong.

This is a spell you can perform any time you need a bit of extra luck. You will need a container of honey, a small candle (preferably beeswax), a candleholder, and a safe space where the candle can burn down undisturbed.Anoint your candle and its holder with a drop or two of honey (not too much or it will interfere with the burning process). Taste the residual honey and say:As this honey is sweet, so shall the world be sweet to me. Light the candle and place the container of honey next to it so that the candlelight illuminates the honey. Allow the candle to burn all the way out safely. For an extra boost of luck throughout your day, carry the candle stub or a bit of the honey in a vial in your pocket or bag.

Celebrate Mother Earth

Mother Earth is known by many names around the world and envisioned in many ways, and as the Earth Goddess she has been with us since the earliest times. As this is Earth Day, it is a wonderful day to create your own temporary or permanent representation of Mother Earth. This goddess is nurturing in shape, form, and concept. If you live near a beach or can easily travel to one, go there and bring your digging and sculpting tools. Create a unique rendition of the Earth Goddess right near the water and watch her slowly return to where she originated. If it is more reasonable for you and in your wheelhouse, create an Earth Goddess out of self-drying or oven-drying clay. While the clay is still pliable, press beads and other accessories into her body. Once she is dried, in a day or so, paint her in pleasing colors. Keep her displayed year-round on your mantel or Earth altar. If working in 3D is not your thing, make a drawing or journal entry to represent the Earth Goddess as simply or ornately as you wish. Display this on your fridge, near your work station, or in your bedroom so you can appreciate her even more from this day forward.

There Is Enough If We Share

In the Anderson Feri Reclaiming Tradition, there is an important phrase that is often spoken at their gatherings: "There is enough if we share." This simple saying reminds us that the wealthy abundance of resources provided to us by Mother Earth is more than enough to sustain us all if we share. Survival is a team sport, after all. In their ritual feasts they bless their food, saying, "May you never thirst" and "May you never hunger." These prayers offer simple gratitude and acknowledgment of the abundance of Mother Earth, reminding ourselves and the community that we are stronger, healthier, and wealthier together.Gather with your community. This could be a friend (or a few), your pets, or your plants. Prepare food and drink for the beings who have gathered. Holding your hands over the drink, say:May you never thirst. Serve the beverage to all present. Now, with the food, say:May you never hunger.Enjoy the food and drink with love and gratitude for all who have joined together.

There is a long history to explain why the date (and time) 420 has become associated with marijuana, and there are a lot of stories that attempt to explain the connection. Everything from a numerological connection to a Bob Dylan song to the number of chemical compounds found in weed are all stories that get told. But the true story goes back to some stoner kids in the 1970s who had friendships with the Grateful Dead, and the rest is urban legend! Many a pot lover the world over celebrates the magickal plant that we call weed on this day. Whether you imbibe the herb today or not, we can all honor the power of this plant for bringing in a chill and relaxed vibe. What helps you relax? Is it a bath, a meditation session, or a toke of Mary Jane? Let today's anthem be one of calming down and chilling out. Make some magickal space to allow the chill into your life.

Endless Love Spell

My only child was born on this day, so I celebrate her and invest my energy in endless love. Do you have a child, pet, or family member whom you will love endlessly? The sort of love that transcends time and space? Place their photograph on your altar. Safely light a candle in their honor: red for passion, pink for affection, white for purity, or blue for serenity. Feel your love and speak:I declare my endless love by the fire of this light. I swear I will forever love, cherish, and delight. Deep within my head and heart my love blazes bright, Across all lifetimes, space and time. Endlessly your path is woven tight with mine. Extinguish the candle. Relight it any time you wish to evoke endless love.

Poem Magic

When we think of spoken spells, we tend to think of charms and phrases that are rhymed. But all words have the potential for magic, especially if we consider their structure and balance. They don't always have to rhyme to have power.Today, try playing with a different format for your spoken word spells, meditations, and blessings. A haiku is a kind of Japanese poetry that is non-rhyming and consists of three lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5. What if you thought about those three lines as representing past, present, and future? Or the Cauldron of Poesy with body, heart, and spirit? Fives can also relate to the elements and protection, while the seven connects to the action of the Chariot card in the major arcana of the Tarot. Here's an example of a haiku for protection:Behind me, spirits. With me, mighty guardians. Before me, the star.

Achieve a Goal Spell

With the new moon in Aries today, you have a great opportunity to achieve almost any goal you choose. For this spell, you should ground and center first. Sit at your altar or in another peaceful spot and think of one specific goal you wish to achieve. Then select a candle that will fit securely in a holder or easily sit in a heatproof dish. Choose a color that you feel is appropriate for your goal. Now carefully light the candle. Gaze into the flame. As you think of what you wish to achieve, say this charm:May this light guide me to my goal. May my eyes see my dream unfold. May my feet guide me to the right way. May my hands help me shape my dream, now and every day. Exhale and relax. When you're ready, safely extinguish the candle. Save it for other rituals. Go about your day. Soon you'll see signs that your spell is working.
