We are just past Samhain and the Day of the Dead celebration. Now is a good time to confront our own feelings about mortality and have a conversation with Death. Sit where you will be undisturbed for about twenty minutes and where there is an empty chair facing you. Imagine a figure representing the personification of Death seated in the other chair. This figure is not a threat to you and has not come to claim you at this moment. Death is here for conversation. Talk about your fears surrounding this large transition, whether it’s losing a loved one, leaving loved ones, not knowing what comes next, or anything else. Verbalize what frightens or saddens you. Let your intuition provide the other side of the conversation. It may be difficult, but it will bring a sense of comfort. At the end, thank Death for their time, and let any fear or tension drain down into the ground. |
