Spell: Talisman for Defiance

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

On this day in 1040, legend says that Lady Godiva rode naked on horseback, covered only by her long hair, for tax relief. Despite a lack of solid historical evidence, the legend of Godiva's famous procession remains a symbol of protest. Coventry once hosted an annual reenactment of the ride. Today the Godiva Festival has evolved into a three-day music event.

Largely considered myth, the story is still an inspiration for standing up for something you believe in. To that end, choose a piece of jewelry (or other item) to use as a talisman for your personal protest. It can be a literal symbol of a cause you support or a more private reminder of something you're fighting for. Charge your item using this chant:

"For this cause I stand, I fight.
I hold true to what is right.
This symbol helps me stay on track,
keeps me strong under attack"
