Spell: Consecrating the Altar

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

I enjoy having a dedicated workspace for my rites and spells. Spaces gain power when they are used consistently. However, there are times when it is necessary to change a current altar's location due to a move, or to reconfigure personal space due to the season/sabbat. When I have done this in the past, I have always consecrated my altar prior to using it again.

When I consecrate my altar, I ensure that I have all the elements represented within the space. I make sure I have incense for air, salt/soil for earth, candles for fire, a dish of water for water, and a representation of the God/Goddess for spirit. Then I stand over my workspace and say three times:

I devote this space to the work of the old ways.
Let me show my dedication throughout my days.

After completing this, I light the candle and incense and sprinkle a little salt into the water, then sprinkle the salt water lightly around the altar.
