Too often we do a lot for others. We give, work, do, help, and take care of and for others. But not today. Today is "me day," a chance to celebrate "self." Quickly list the tiny, simple, and common things that bring you pleasure. Here are some of mine: delicious coffee, sunshine on my face, a fast walk that works up a little sweat, a swim in the lake, fresh chocolate croissants, belly laughs, time with friends, hugs, snuggles with my daughter, time in the garden with the cat, checking things off my to-do list, napping, and eating dinner on the deck. Today, do as many of those small, simple, and sweet pleasures as possible, those tiny treasures that cost little and bring gratification to the soul. Store the kernels of joy away, and know that many small pleasures add up to BIG magic. |
