Spell: Lest We Forget

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Many people in the United States will be visiting the graves of those they loved and lost this weekend. Red, white, and blue is a popular color scheme, but do you know what the colors really mean? Red is for passion (and blood), white is for purity, and blue is for loyalty. These are the colors on many flags, and for good reason!

The graves of fallen soldiers are often decorated with flowers. Every flower has a different meaning. Red poppies, blue irises, white roses, and carnations bring both color and depth to a memorial. Poppies are a symbol of consolation and restful sleep, irises symbolize valor and hope, roses represent undying love, and carnations of all colors are associated with affection and distinction. Flags and flowers both send a message of gratitude to the fallen and help to bring peace after the heartbreak of loss.
