Spell: Pineapple Plant Protection

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Natives to the West Indies used to place pineapple plants in a protective living fence around their villages. Those leaves can be rather sharp, so they serve as a great natural barrier for predators. It's very easy to obtain a start for your own plant- you simply need to buy a ripe pineapple plant at the grocery store. Make sure it still has the leaves attached.

Simply hack the leaves or crown off the top of the pineapple plant, removing any fruit that may still be attached to the base of the leaves. Stick toothpicks around the outside edge of the pineapple crown, near the base, and place in a small glass of water until it takes root. ( The toothpicks keep the greenery from dropping all the way down into the glass, where it will sit and rot.) After you have little roots started, simply plant the pineapple crown in a pot and leave in a sunny location. I'd recommend using a yellow or gold pot to up the protective factor. You'll also need some potting soil, some gravel for drainage, and perhaps a suitable protective gemstone-maybe hematite.
