When you find yourself lying awake in the dark of the night...
Instead of worrying, think of eleven things for which you're grateful. #1. You're sleeping in a bed in your own home. Program your mind to recite the mantra of or a prayer to the goddess or god to whom you're devoted. My mind in default mode goes to OM TARE TUTARETURE SOHA. Pet the cat or whoever shares your bed. Snuggle up. In your head, start writing your novel. Write poetry or compose music. Tell yourself that if it's good, you'll remember it in the morning. If you've forgotten it, then it wasn't worth remembering. Promise yourself that you'll try again tomorrow night. Begin an exhaustive mental lecture to yourself on the history of ceremonial magic or alchemy or some other highly esoteric topic. Include every petty detail you can think of. You'll bore yourself back to sleep. |
