Darkness is a potent magical force. It is mystery, fear, wonder, and enigma. As the wheel turns closer to Samhain, we are reminded of its profound power and mystique in nature, and in turn, our lives. Darkness represents a deep fear of the unknown in the collective psyche of our society. Take a step to transcend this fear tonight. Spend some time alone in a dark place. Find an area where you can be in complete silence and darkness. Sit in a comfortable position and breathe. Are you afraid? What sorts of thoughts does it bring up for you? Keep breathing and allow yourself to be held in the caress of the Dark Mother. Allow any fear or nervousness to simply be. Breathe deeply. Surrender to the experience. What blessings do you find in this abyss? Enfold thy innermost self in the Rapture of the Infinite.
