Spell: New Moon Beginning Spell

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Yellow
Incense of the day: Pine

Tonight marks the New Moon, also known as Dark Moon. At this time, the Sun and Moon are in conjunction. The Moon rises and sets at the same time as the Sun. The feminine, reflective lunar energy merges with the masculine, expressive solar energy. The New Moon is an auspicious time to start new projects. Spring is also a time of fresh beginnings, rebirth, and burgeoning growth. For this spell, you will need two packets of seeds: white moonflowers and red morning glories. You will also need a white candle. Play some lunar- and solar-themed music in the background, too. Light the candle, and tuck the edges of the seed packets under the candleholder. Imagine the plants sprouting and say:

Moon and Sun and Earth and Space,
Lend me power
in this place.
Space and Earth and Sun and Moon,
Let these flowers
flourish soon.

Now visualize the vines twining together as they grow, bedecked with the red flowers of the Sun by day and the white flowers of the Moon by night. Use this image to balance the solar and lunar energies within yourself. Let the candle burn out, and plant the seeds in your garden.
