It is thought to be bad luck to use nuts harvested after the equinox for spell work. The hazel tree is one of the nine sacred trees. A symbol of wisdom, this tree is sacred to Hermes. Working with hazel nuts or the wood from the trees can bring you knowledge, luck, fertility, clairvoyance, or protection. Make a string of nine hazel nuts and hang them over a door for good luck. Or, tie a bunch of hazel twigs together for protection. Wearing a crown made of hazel twigs will deepen your divination practice.
