Try this if you're struggling to stick to your New Year's resolutions. You'll need a wooden match, a saucer of lemon juice, a sheet of white paper, a candle in a holder, and a firesafe dish. Dip the base of the match in the lemon juice, and use it to write the promise you made to yourself on one side of the paper. On the other side, write what you feel is stopping you from keeping your promise. Let the paper dry. Light the candle with the head of the same match. Hold the paper over the flame until all of the writing appears, breaking through what is preventing you from keeping your promise. Once the writing is fully exposed, carefully light the paper with the candle in the firesafe dish, saying: My promise to myself is stronger than my addiction to comfort. Pinch the candle flame out between wet fingertips or using a snuffer. Gather the ashes and dispose of them off your property. When you are tempted to break your promise, remember how strong you are. |
