Today is World Maritime Day. Instead of honoring the shipping industry, honor the goddess who is the ocean herself. Amphitrite was a pre-Hellenic triple goddess honored as the sea. In Greek myth, she was demoted to nereid and married Poseidon. She kept her independence and has caves under the sea filled with jewels, tends sea mammals, creates sea monsters, and calms the winds. You will need a stone associated with the ocean and/or Amphitrite, such as larimar, coral, cuprite, or aquamarine. If possible, go to an ocean beach. Let the waves race over your feet. When you feel ready, say: Thank you, Amphitrite, for showing me the power of adaptation, Fling the crystal as far out into the water as possible, making a promise to remain your unique self. Walk away without looking back. Or you can take a shower, visualizing the power of the ocean. Speak the words, and throw the crystal into the next moving body of water you encounter. |
