Spell: The Power of Marigold

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Flowers come in a stunning variety of shapes, sizes, scents, colors, and textures. They have a language all their own, and they can speak to you deeply, uplifting and touching your soul.

Flowers can be employed to treat various spiritual and physical ills. They brighten the spirit and speak to the spirits. This becomes very evident in Mexican and Mexican American culture in the fall. Marigolds, the flower of October, become a bright beacon for the spirits. Pathways are created from them that lead deceased family members from the cemetery back home.

Calendula is a particularly healthful and attractive type of marigold, especially selected for its ability to speak to ghosts and spirits. Mundanely, it's used in soothing herbal skin preparations. Today, purchase or pick a dozen calendula flowers. If they are freshly picked, gently rinse them off with soapy water before bringing them inside. Add these spirit guides to your family altar or living room antel. Let your family know, whichever realm they are in, that they are loved and remembered.
