To boost the soil health (earthworms love this!) and the good vibes in your garden, break down cardboard boxes into flat sheets, choosing cardboard that isn't heavily printed or waxed and removing any tape or staples. Using a nontoxic marker or colored pencil, write positive intentions, words, and/or symbols on the cardboard. For instance, you could write "This garden is a temple of perfect love, will, and wisdom," or the word "love" or "harmony." You could also draw a reiki symbol, heart, or triskele. Focus on the energy of what you're writing, activating the power of these characters. Place the cardboard on the soil writing-side down, and moisten it well. Layer mulch on top, making sure to cover the cardboard completely. Depending on how wet your climate is, the cardboard can take one to two years to break down, but you can use a utility knife to cut openings in which to plant any time you like. This method suppresses weeds, boosts soil nutrients, and provides earthworm habitat, while the words and symbols contribute positive energy to the land. It's a win-win! |
