Spell: Birth Date of John James Audubon

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Earth-based belief systems are by definition in tune with nature. Birds hold a special symbolic place for many. Several years ago during a family reunion, I was intrigued by a relative who could recognize birds from their calls alone. This inspired me to obtain bird identification books for my specific state and area. I began recording the birds visiting my backyard. This in turn has led to many relaxing hours observing the birdfeeders and their guests from my patio.
Today, the celebration of the birth of Audubon, consider starting a bird watching, or birding, practice. You may wish to seek out local birding clubs in your community, or simply identify the birds in your own backyard. House and feeder systems range from minimal and inexpensive to complicated and luxurious. There is something in every price range; likewise with books and binoculars. A warning, though: it can become addictive!
