Spell: Dia de los Muertos

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Today is the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) which is a raucous festival when the people remember their loved ones who have crossed over. Huge parades are held with flamboyant skeleton costumes, graves are brightly decorated, and altars are set up in homes with offerings for the dead when they come to visit. There are even beautiful sugar skull treats. In Mexico, death is not feared but embraced on this day. On your altar, place marigolds, white candles, happy photos of your dearly departed, and their favorite foods. Play their favorite music softly. Add Mexican skeleton toys or sugar skulls if you wish. Concentrate on happy memories and stories of them.
I loved you in life, as I love you in death,
Thoughts of you always bring joy to me.
Until the day that I will see you again,
You will dance in my warm memories.
Come to peace with your memory of your loved one, grateful for having known them. When you are done, you may leave the food outside under the Full Moon as an offering to feed your loved one's spirit as they continue on their travels.
