Incense of the day: Cinnamon The New Moon in Cancer, the sign of the crab, speaks of emotions, home, and the need for security. Real crabs carry their home wherever they go. Likewise, the members of this sign are sometimes oversensitive and grow a thick psychic shell for protection. This is a good time to work on your own inner home or temple, a safe place that you carry with you. Sometimes sudden changes in the world around us cause us to forget that we have this place. Even if you know it well, it is a good idea to go back and visit your safe place from time to time. For this working, place a silver candle in a bowl of water. The water is the world around you, ever changing. The candle is the light of your own spirit and the safe harbor it provides. Light the candle, put out the rest of the lights in the room, and concentrate on the flame. Breathe slowly, grounding and centering. Then close your eyes and ask yourself what your safe place looks like. If you don't know, ask to be taken to it. Soon, you will see some mode of transportation to take you there. It may be a special secluded spot in nature, a special room you knew as a child, or even an imaginary spot from a favorite book that captured your heart. Once you are there, look around, making a note of what it looks like. Tidy it up, add a few comfortable touches, whatever it takes to really make this space "home" for you. As you are getting ready to leave, know that this place is always waiting for you whenever you need to return. You don't even have to remember the way, because your heart and soul will remember for you. |
