Spell: God and Goddess Purification Rite

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

Color of the day: Blue
Incense of the day: Pine

This is the time of year to honor the Roman god Februus and the goddess Februa, spirits of February. These two are symbolic spirits of purification. We honor their spirit by cleansing the home and hearth. One of the better ways of doing this is using hyssop herb, frankincense, and myrrh. All have a lengthy history as purifying herbs. Heat your cauldron up on a stovetop or over an open fire, as you prefer. Add in a cup of fresh or one-half cup dried hyssop. When the cauldron bubbles, remove it from the heat. Cover, and steep the potion for twenty-five minutes. Strain, cool for ten minutes, and add eight drops frankincense essential oil and four drops myrrh. Swirl the whole gently to mix. Dip your besom into the potion, and sweep your house from the front to back while saying the following incantation: "Peace this way flow. Negative energy go!" After- ward burn a peacefully scented incense to thank Februus and Februa for their divine inspiration and their cleansing energy.
