Color of the day: Turquoise
Incense of the day: Vanilla Carmentalia is a festival of two calendar days devoted to the worship of Carmentis, the Roman goddess of fertility, childbirth, and prophecy. The first festival day falls on January 11 and the second occurs today. On this day, prayers may be offered to invoke the Carmentes, or the triple aspects of the goddess. Her other two aspects or "sisters" and "attendants" are called Porrima and Postverta. Porrima presides at the birth when a baby emerges headfirst into this world, while Postverta watches over infants who come feet first. |
