Many homes have a household spirit. Follow this verse to let your resident spirit know they’re welcome. Household spirits have been around for thousands of years. The ancients treated their house spirits in a similar manner, with small gifts or some food, like I’ve done here. When the clock strikes midnight, Upon a plate of pure white, Serve a slice of crusty bread And an apple shiny and red. And pour a glass of ruby red wine, Now invite your spirit to sit and dine. When the visit ends, I truly believe, To bid your guest well, let them take their leave. Occasionally a house spirit will move on, but not always, especially when they feel welcome. The next day, compost the food and pour the wine respectfully upon the earth. |
