Of all the elements, spirit is the most intangible. To get in touch with the element of spirit, adorn your altar with black and white decorations, white candles, and clear quartz crystals. Sit before your altar in the candlelight and hold a pentacle in your hands. Visualize yourself at the center of the universe, connecting with the energy of all things. You are everywhere and nowhere all at once. Whisper this chant to help with focus if necessary:

Transcend, transcend;
the beginning and the end
will blend. Find the center,
the beginning, and the end—
I enter. Feel the spirit,
above and below, over and under.
