Spell: Cleaning with Spring Herbs

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

One of the joys of spring is the coming of the first fresh herbs to gardens and markets. Some may even sprout in your own yard. It is probably no accident that many of the earliest herbs are especially good at detoxifying the body. Back in the old days, a winter diet was mostly made up of preserved or fresh meat and whatever vegetables could be stored for a long time. By the time people made it to spring, they needed all the cleansing they could get.

These days, our winter diets might be better, but our spirits can undoubtedly use a boost come spring. Try using some fresh spring herbs in your magical work. You can also make a healing tea from fresh (edible) herbs like peppermint or lemon balm. Bless the herb on your altar first to give it an extra boost, and say:

May this fresh spring herb
bring its healing and refreshing
qualities to my body and spirit.

Then sip it slowly and mindfully.
