Two sacred trees in Druidic tradition are the hazel and the oak. The hazel is the tree of wisdom and associated with the arts of meditation and proetry. The fruit of this tree is the filbert, a favored food of dormice and gray squirrels. The oak is the tree of strength and is connected with the skills of endurance and leadership. The fruit of this tree is the acorn, an important food for pigs (both domestic and wild) and deer. For a Druidic blessing, gather equal amounts of filberts and acorns.
Carefully pierce them and string them on cord, alternating a filbert and an acorn throughout the string. Hang this in your sacred grove outdoors, or above your altar indoors, to bestow blessings of wisdom and strength. |
