Spell: Harvest Prosperity Rite

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

The Irish harvest holiday of Lughnasadh, and the Christianized celebration of Lammas in Britain, is a joyful time of gratitude for bounty.

For this rite, first verbally thank deities, ancestors, spiritual beings, or the universe itself for all the blessings you've enjoyed this year. Next, anoint a green candle with lavender and rose oil, and light it in a safe holder. Slather thick slices of bread (preferably homemade) with butter, honey, and/or jam, and prepare a platter with seasonal fruits, veggies, and nuts. Drink buttermilk or herbal tea infused with honey and lemon. Chant:

Enough and plenty, come to me, O come to me.
Blessings now, and bounty, come to me, O come to me.
Wealth and prosperity, come to me, O come!

Dance clockwise around your candle or stand in place to play a percussion instrument while chanting. Eat some of the bread and produce, and drink the beverage. Share your harvest with loved ones. Carefully extinguish the candle or allow it to burn out safely. Finally, take some of the food outdoors to offer to spiritual beings, using biodegradable containers. Thank them once again for hearing your request.
