LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Spell: Communicate with a Salamander

Color of the Day
Incense of the Day

This spell will assist you in contacting a salamander: a fire elemental. Typically, these beings provide energy, help break down boundaries, and sharpen one's will. Invoke them when you need focus.

For this spell you will need some resin incense (I prefer black copal), a charcoal-safe incense burner, and some charcoal.

Light the charcoal. Ground and center. Face the south, or the direction your tradition associates with the fire element. Enter a trance and sprinkle some of the resin on the coal, watching the smoke rise. Call to the salamanders- the conscious beings of fire- to appear in the smoke before you:

"Creatures of the very fire,
Reveal here to me your form."

Look into the smoke with the Witch's eye: your inner sight. Allow the salamanders to reveal themselves to you. Once they have, you may commune with them as you wish.
