Sometimes the creativity well runs dry, or you just need some time away from a project while your mind works through a problem.
Many of us enjoy folding laundry or maybe washing dishes at such moments, but there are certainly other, more enjoyable ways to take a break. One of my favorites is to color. It occupies both your hands and the main part of your focus while whatever it is you need to puzzle over sits there on the back burner, simmering away. When you feel the need, light a purple candle, pull out a special coloring book or pages printed from the Internet, and grab your crayon box. Spend at least an hour just coloring and relaxing. Enjoy choosing the colors you use, and see how they interact with each other on the page. And let your mind wander. |
