We stand upon many shoulders. Take a moment to recognize that you are not who you are because of your efforts alone, but that you arise from the work, play, tears, and elation of many others.
To honor those who have gone before and have contrbuted to your life and living, lay down five silver coins in a row. The first is for your foremothers, the second for your forefathers, the third for your teachers, the fourth for your guides, and the fifth for God/Goddess. Onto each one, place a pinch of incense, sugar, and salt, acknowledging the fragrances of living, the sweetness of successes, and the saltiness of tears split in both joy and upset. As you do so, speak a word or phrase that captures your relationship with these dear ones. When finished, place each offering into a vase with water, adding flowers to celebrate the blossoming that is you. |
