Burying Illnesses in Apples

Color of the day:  Rose
Incense of the day:  Mint

Apples are a traditional Ozark container for magically removing all different kinds of illnesses and hexes. These would have been readily available in most hillfolk cabins alongside another favored container, the potato. You will need:

  • An apple, any variety
  • A shovel or spade

This ritual begins with an apple. It can be any variety, but it needs to be whole. Rub the apple over your entire body, starting at the top of your head and ending on the soles of your feet. You need only touch the areas you can actually reach. While rubbing the apple over your body, repeat over and over for the entire ritual:

Into apple, into ground.

Repeat the rubbing from head to foot three times in total. When finished, bury the apple in the dirt outside. (The illnesses and curses that were removed might kill your plants, so bury it anyplace where there's dirt and not plants you want to save.) Burying the apple in a graveyard is also traditional.
