Banishing Thorns

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Lavender

When you find yourself having to deal with a difficult person and cannot make peace with them in a mundane, communicative way, it's time for magic. This spell is to remove a person's prickly or upsetting attitude. Gather these materials:

  • A plant or stick with thorns, such as a rose, a cactus, or a stem from a blackberry bush
  • Scissors or wire cutters, depending on the size of the thorns
  • Gardening gloves if needed

Hold the plant material in your hand carefully and visualize the behavior of the person who is causing problems. Allow yourself to feel annoyed, and picture that feeling going down your arm, through your hand, and into the plant. Now the plant or stem holds the unpleasant energy of the situation within it. Using the scissors, methodically cut every single thorn from the plant and gather them together. Bury the thorns in the ground if possible or throw them away. Keep the stem in a place where you can see it each day. Every time you look at it, note how its defenses are removed, leaving it smooth and harmless. The problematic person should be on better behavior soon.
