You have chosen, or been chosen by, a spirit animal, totem figure, or guide. But have you chosen someone of myth or legend or historical importance with whom you identify? Is there a particular magical type for which you feel an affinity? The fey? Mer-folk? Pirates?

Pirates may not be considered magical, but many identify with these seafaring men and women. What a life: open seas, layered, comfortable clothing, a healthy diet of seafood, plus hats and scarves to cover any bad hair day, which would definitely happen out in that humid, salty air. Of course, this idea is a little silly, but whatever way of life or whatever magical creature calls to you, embrace it. Fashion a token for your altar, such as “gold” coins, real coins, costume or real jewelry, or an eye patch. If you do sincerely love pirates, then join in with the following ditty:

"Yo ho, yo ho,
A pirate’s life for me!
Had I my druthers
And not bound to others,
I’d spend my life at sea."
