Smashing Pumpkins for Further Protection

Jack-o'-lanterns represent protection from harmful forces. Their scary and funny faces have long served to distract negative spirits and keep them at bay from one's property.

In many parts of the Western world, people leave jack-o'-lanterns on their porch throughout November,until the Halloween decor is replaced with Yuletide charm. If you are one of these people, take your pumpkins to the edge of your property and smash them while saying this:

"Harmful forces, now be gone!
Only protection can carry on!"

Leave the pieces of the pumpkin around your property so they can continue protecting the land.

If you have a friend or family member who gives you permission to do the same on their own property, go for it! Just don't go around smashing pumpkins around the neighborhood without prior approval.
