LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Chart Your Course with the Tarot

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Lavender

The tarot can be a wonderful tool for looking ahead at paths yet to be walked and obstacles yet unmet (and unknown). To do this, you'll need your favorite tarot deck and work surface (silk cloth, etc.).

Prepare by considering what period of time you want to look at: The next several weeks? Months? An entire year? Set a time frame and spend a few moments contemplating. What do you imagine happening during that period? What questions do you have?

Spread out your card surface and shuffle and cut the deck as usual. Lay out one card for each time delimiter- e.g., one card for each week, month, season, etc. Contemplate the cards and consider initial meanings.

Make a detailed journal entry about which cards turned up for which times, and note your initial responses. You might also photograph the layout for later reference-the layout itself could hold meaning. Return to your notes and photos weekly to assess what the cards have revealed.
