LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Pillar of Salt

Color of the day:  Pink
Incense of the day:  Alder

A circle of salt has long acted as a protective barrier and delineator of sacred space. On this day in 1930, Mahatma Gandhi stood at the edge of the Arabian Sea, picked up a lump of mud and salt, and said, "With this, I am shaking the foundations of the British Empire."

Stand in a quiet space that is sacred to you, and use salt to draw a circle around yourself. Inside the circle's protective embrace, take a moment to ground and center. Visualize whatever it is you need to overcome, then take a fistful of salt in each hand, raise your arms over your head, and say:

"With this salt, I shake the
foundations of (insert your issue)!"

Place your clenched fists over your heart, step out of the circle, and go outdoors. Picture that which you need to conquer once more, then throw the salt at it and watch it dissolve.
