Selene, Do Not Let Passion Run Away with You

Color of the day:  Blue
Incense of the day:  Sage

As a result of different calendars and cultures, many gods and goddesses have more than one feast day attributed to them. Today is one of the days that favor Selene, who may be best known for her passion for the ever-beautiful, and ever-sleeping, Endymion. Each night she would slip down from the sky to be with him. This cautionary tale reminds us that over-the-top passion is not good under any circumstances. Passion must be tempered.
The following spell will help if you feel yourself becoming overly passionate about some object, person, or cause. Choose a candle in the color that symbolizes your obsession. If time and circumstances permit, allow the candle to burn out. If you need to extinguish it, tamp down or smother it. Say:

"All things in moderation.
My passion for ___________
Threatens to overtake and harm me.
As this candle burns down (is smothered),
So does passion's flame extinguish.
I am healed and whole."
