The best way to stop gossip is not to start it. However, posting on social networks has brought about the endless cycle of starting a rumor. Even if we find out it's not true, there are so many more people who will click and forward without so much as thinking.
Do your part to end online gossip by checking before you click "share." Morgan Freeman has been declared dead so often that it's become a running joke on the Internet.
Always fully read what you are about to share, check the information for accuracy, and then carefully reflect on what you are about to share. Will it hurt anyone? And will it eventually hurt you?
