LLEWELLYN'S SPELL-A-DAY

Martinmas: A Day of Sharing

Color of the day:  White
Incense of the day:  Narcissus

While on a journey, St. Martin is said to have given half his cloak to a beggar at the side of the road; that cloak is now a relic of the Church. The spiritual lesson today is not about charity, but about something we learned in kindergarten - the importance of sharing. We may not want to share or be comfortable sharing what we have, but we are reminded today of the sweet gifts that are ours when we give generously from our hearts.
Make a point today to share with others: your lunch, your time, your knowledge, your song. Whatever it is, do so with humility and without attachment. You will be blessed in return by the unexpected kindness of others.
