Greeting the Sun

Color of the day:  Topaz
Incense of the day:  Marjoram

Today the sun moves into Scorpio, a water sign embodying mystery, curiousity, and intense focus. This charm from the Carmina Gadelica is an ancient Pagan prayer to the sun. The Carmina Gadelica is a group of folk rhymes, charms, and tales that reflect the lives of rural Scottish people in the late 1800s. Collected by folklorist Alexander Carmichael, the Carmina Gadelica provides a window into a past culture.
Face the rising sun-with head uncovered and palms facing up-as you repeat this charm:

"Hail to thee, thou sun of the seasons,
As thou traversest the skies aloft;
Thy steps are strong on the wing of the heavens,
Thou art the glorious mother of the stars."
