POSTED UNDER Love, Moon

A highland Prayer for the New Moon

Color of the day:  Rose
Incense of the day:  Orchid

In Soctland, the New moon was honored as the start of a new cycle, and people kept a silver coin in their pocket that they turned three times when they first saw the new crescent Moon, known as Rioghainn na h-oidhche,(em)"Qheen of the Night."
Here are some traditional Celtic verses which were receited upon first seeing the New Moon:

Hail to you, New Moon
Beautiful Guiding One of
the sky
Hail to you, New Moon,
Beautiful Loved One of my
Heart!

I am bending my knee to you
I am giving you my hand
I am lifing my eye to you
New Moon of the Seasons!

You are traveling in your
path
You are steering the full tides
You are illuminating you
face to us
New Moon of the Seasons!

Holy be each thing
Which she illuminates
Fragrant be every night
On which she shines!
