Making a Window Altar

Color of the day:  Coral
Incense of the day:  Mint

Do you have a favorite window? One that you spend a lot of time looking through? You can honor your special window with its own altar. Start by cleaning the sill and cleansing it with salt or a sage smudge. Polish the window, too. Cut a strip of decorative scrapbooking paper equal to the depth of the windowsill, plus 1/2 inch. Line the windowsill with the paper, folding the extra 1/2 inch over the sill edge. (Our grandmothers used to line windows and shelves with paper: they knew what they were doing!) Arrange selected items on the windowsill. You might choose stones, statuary, a shot glass filled with water, candles, tools, or whatever pleases you. A string of small LED lights adds a nice effect when tucked among the items. When you stand before your window altar, pause mindfully, offer thanks, or just enjoy a moment of serenity.
