Happy International Day of Peace! Today, light a white candle in honor of Eirene, the Greek goddess of peace and one of the Horae, three deities who promoted order. Her Roman counterpart is Pax. Ask for Eirene's blessing upon those who seek to bring peace to the world, whether locally or globally, and ask how you may add your own efforts effectively and ethically:

On this day, when war still rages,
I dedicate my time to
peaceful ages.
Where none need fear Ares' blade,
Eirene, I ask you for your aid.

You may also wish to honor St. Francis of Assisi. In addition to being the patron saint of animals, the famous "Prayer of St. Francis" attributed to him includes the line "where there is hatred, let me sow love." While some Pagans may feel residual animosity toward Christianity, peace begins with critiquing one's own prejudices.
