A Prayer for Peace

Color of the day:  Purple
Incense of the day:  Mint

The United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan 65 years ago today, ending World War II. The blast killed 75,000 people and many thousands died afterward from fire and radiation poisoning. We must pray that such a thing never happens again. In a quiet room, light a blue candle for peace. Center by focusing on your breath and say this Metta Sutta from the Buddhists:

In safety and in bliss
May all creatures be of a blissful heart.
Let no one work another's undoing
Or even slight him at all anywhere;
And never let them wish another ill
Through provocation or resentful thought.
And just as might a mother with her life
Protect the son that was her only child,
So let him then for every
living thing
Maintain unbounded
consciousness in being
Above, below, and all 'round in between,
Untroubled, with no enemy or foe.
Let him resolve upon this mindfulness.
This is Divine Abiding here, they say.
