July is the month of Ishtar, the goddess of resurrection. Ishtar was worshiped in Babylonia for over 2,500 years. As the patron goddess of temple prostitutes, she had no shame in pleasuring her body and pleasing numerous lovers. This makes today an ideal day for women to honor their sexuality and minimize any guilt or hangups they have about their body. Decorate your altar with the symbols of Ishtar. Use a piece of paper to cut out her symbol, an eight-pointed star and a statue or photograph of a lion. The lion is her sacred animal. In candlelight, say these words:

Ishtar, I invoke thee.
With your acceptance and love bathe me.
My body is a gift,
A shrine of pleasure.
I am woman,
I am a goddess treasure.
