St. Helena, whose feast day falls on August 18, is invoked against fire, wind, and lightning strike. Her plant is called Jupiter's Beard, or sometimes sengreen or houseleek. The custom is to hang the dry stalks of the plant from the ceiling, or better yet, to cultivate the plant in your garden to protect your home. It is also said that a pot of Jupiter's Beard on your roof will keep your house in money. For a spell for safety, center yourself. Take a sprig of Jupiter's Beard and walk widdershins around the perimeter of your house or apartment, saying:

Dear St. Helena,
protect this home
from fire and storm.
