Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Pine At Samhain, many people believe that the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is thin and that communication with ancestors is possible. It's a perfect time to set out an offering for those who have passed. Set up some photos or items associated with those you wish to honor. Then scoop out the insides of your pumpkin and carve a face into it. As you carve the eyes, think about how your worldview has been shaped by your ancestors. As you carve the nose, feel gratitude for how you can breathe in the wonders of the earth during your time here, just as your ancestors did. As you carve the mouth, think about communication. Perhaps you speak a different language than your ancestors did, but the spiritual connection overrides this and allows you to communicate with them. Place a candle or light in the jack-o-lantern and display it as an offering to the dead. |
