A Warm Heart

Color of the day:  Brown
Incense of the day:  Lavender

Cacao has long been celebrated and honored as a sacred being. The ingredients of this recipe honor the sacred lands of the Mayan people and the foods that sustained their communities. When you drink this soul-warming potion, bring attention to your heart and its connection to the land where you live and the indigenous ancestors who loved and cared for it. You will need:

  • 8 ounces milk or milk alternative
  • A dash of pumpkin spices
  • 2 teaspoons raw cacao powder or regular cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin puree
  • Honey or brown sugar to taste

Heat the milk and spices in a saucepan on a stove on low. When it begins to show steam, add the cacao and pumpkin and gently whisk. Continue heating on low, being careful that the milk does not come to a boil. When the milk has just reached a simmer, remove it from the heat and serve in a well-loved mug. Add honey or brown sugar to taste.
