Celebrate Mother Earth

Color of the day:  Yellow
Incense of the day:  Marjoram

Mother Earth is known by many names around the world and envisioned in many ways, and as the Earth Goddess she has been with us since the earliest times. As this is Earth Day, it is a wonderful day to create your own temporary or permanent representation of Mother Earth. This goddess is nurturing in shape, form, and concept.

If you live near a beach or can easily travel to one, go there and bring your digging and sculpting tools. Create a unique rendition of the Earth Goddess right near the water and watch her slowly return to where she originated.

If it is more reasonable for you and in your wheelhouse, create an Earth Goddess out of self-drying or oven-drying clay. While the clay is still pliable, press beads and other accessories into her body. Once she is dried, in a day or so, paint her in pleasing colors. Keep her displayed year-round on your mantel or Earth altar. If working in 3D is not your thing, make a drawing or journal entry to represent the Earth Goddess as simply or ornately as you wish. Display this on your fridge, near your work station, or in your bedroom so you can appreciate her even more from this day forward.
