| Baptism is not an experience reserved only for those of the Christian persuasion. Water has been seen as a cleansing and purifying source since the beginning of humanity, on both physical and metaphysical levels.
If you feel connected to a natural body of water, such as a gentle river, hot spring, or lake, carefully enter the water at a time when you can focus on yourself and your needs. Immerse yourself to your waist, and enter a meditative state. Reflect on your life to this point, realizing that everything is in a process of change-of death and rebirth. Find yourself aware of your body and aware of the water as a great cleansing force. Draw spirals on the surface of the water with your fingertips, whispering, over and over: "Cleanse me, purify me, renew me." When you're ready, quickly (and carefully) submerge yourself, and then emerge as a purified soul. |
